H.O.W.
Programs

Our programs are open to any woman in need of assistance. Our mission is to provide a sanctuary, a place where women can come to understand what it means to be a successful mother and young adult and feel supported and loved in this new chapter of life. Through various programs we will help them learn life skills and educate themselves, allowing them to develop the skills needed to build strong, self-supporting families.

1

Mentoring

Volunteer mentors from program partners sponsor and assist the client families as they work to develop the life-skills necessary for self sufficiency. Mentors help families with: budget development & savings plan, debt reduction, financial literacy, pregnancy prevention, self-esteem, emotional support, parental skills and healthy decision making.

2

Case Management

H.O.W. professional case managers are available to assist mentors and client families in accessing resources that are important for families to achieve their individual goals.

3

Employment Counseling

H.O.W. assists client families in securing and maintaining employment that will sustain their economic self sufficiency. Job readiness training, resume writing, and mock interviewing are some of the counseling services offered.

4

Tutoring

Teen moms are half as likely to earn their high school diplomas or GEDs. Since homelessness disrupts the continuity of school attendance and is one of the causes for teen dropouts, H.O.W. provides access to tutoring and GED preparation for our young mothers to guide them towards academic success.

5

Counseling Resources

At times, client families need additional resources to help cope with life stressors or ongoing emotional issues. H.O.W. partners with community-based psychological services for short or long term counseling. These services are available to parents & children.
